Since They Built It will the Public Come?

Well opening day is almost here… just hours away and counting down…

and THIS Year Dunkin Stadium; home of the Hartford Yard Goats, will actually open on it’s scheduled date and time!

http://www.milb.com/schedule/index.jsp?sid=t538

Something which it failed to do last year due to all the many building and legal troubles plaguing the; shady done in back rooms to cheat out on the city of New Britain, town council deal from 2013/14…

Not personally a fan of baseball to start with, I was against the building of the stadium using taxpayer monies from the get go… as a taxpaying homeowner like many others I resent that due to the many legal troubles that the city of Hartford over the mismanagement of city funds that we in the suburbs are being forced to pay for this project which doesn’t really do much to benefit current residents of the north end of Hartford who lost a supermarket deal with the stadium going in.

With all of the legal stuff going on, the stadium which had problems with work stopping and starting and then off again with new people needing to be brought in to finish up, I do hope that eventually the citizens of the north end of Hartford will be able to benefit.

We can all hope that the stadium will do well, but no matter how pretty it might be (if you can call the building pretty) the questions are…

“Will the Public Come as Paying Ticket Holders?”

“Will people bring their families to the edge of the north end of Hartford which has a reputation for drugs and gags and shootings?”

After all the money that has been wasted on this project I do hope that the team stays in town and some how against the odds the stadium can turn an actual profit…

But the democrats in power seem to have a knack for making businesses and jobs leave the state after giving them millions of taxpayer dollars and tax breaks so I’m not holding out my breath on this turning out to be profitable…

So let’s see if this year at least if they can get and keep the stadium filled with baseball fans cheering

“Let’s Go Yard Goats!!! Chomp Chomp Chomp!!”

Happy Spring – Free Ice Cream Anyone?

Happy First Day of SPRING!

#WinterStormEugene has left a mess that is still in our yards from last week but it is officially SPRING according to weathermen across the country…

Welcome Spring - bluejay flowers teacup

Today in CT there’s still a heaping amount of snow in our yards but it is officially the first day of spring! March doesn’t know which way it wants to go, having some warmer days earlier and then slamming us with #BlizzardEugene… but now at least the sun is shining and the calendar says that it’s SPRING

Check around to see which of the local ice cream shops around you are offering a Free Small One Scoop Ice Cream. To celebrate spring there are a couple that are offering a Free Small Cone or a Buy One Get On Special.

Will you and the children be going out to enjoy the beautiful day and go out to find the Free Ice Cream in your location? Let everyone know which places are offering Free or BOGO Ice Cream in your area by leaving a comment below.

#BrokeBronin talks in Rocky Hill 12-12-16

#BeggingForBailOut tour stopped in Rocky Hill CT on Monday Dec 12th 2016

It was almost a full house after all, the video camera view that I initially saw showed a bunch of empty seats but another video showed that the room was mostly full & some people were standing together in the back of the room talking among themselves…

I watched a live stream of the meeting while it was happening in Rocky Hill

Hartford’s mayor pitches regionalization to Rocky Hill

The link above goes to the Fox61 article – For some reason I’m unable to get the video player to post properly so I’ve posted the video over on the other blog & it seems to post properly over there

Trump Affect in CT

Well the elections are over & Donald Trump has won the popular vote. The electoral college will make in official in Dec.  The inauguration balls will begin on January 20th 2017 after he is sworn in. Word on the internet is that there will be protests planned for that day )0;}

There are people who are planning “DeploraBalls” across the nation since most of us can’t make it down to DC to attend any of the official fancy balls to celebrate. Haven’t heard of any Balls in CT yet but I’m wondering if they will plan one? Would you attend a “DeploraBall” event if one was held in CT?

CT is in a bit of a shock as 2 worlds are colliding – CT Democrats & the liberal followers are crying, angry & in shock at the loss of seats in the general assembly; meanwhile CT GOP is celebrating the wins in the state & that the White House is now safely in the hands of the Republican Party.

This year in spite of the cheating & lying by the CT Democrats the voters in CT were able to make some wins in the general assembly to start turning the state back onto the road to prosperity once more. Your Votes Counted! In fact so much that there were at least 2 races that went to automatic recounts.button Your Vote Counts round RWB-Stars

While Trump was unable to win in CT with it’s big pockets of #NeverTrumpers that turned former towns from 2012 Red to Blue in 2016, there were several towns that flipped this year from 2012 Blue to Red in 2016.

The towns flipping from Blue to RED blindsided the democrats who are used to ruling over CT as if they are kings & queens over peasants.  There hasn’t been equality in the state senate since the 1800s is what I’ve heard?

The Democrat Activist groups are already meeting & working to take back the state ground they lost & have stated that they plan to keep the anger – a picture of the NoWCT chapter posted 3 days after the election.

Election Night Parties?

Many of the Republican Town Committees &/or Candidates across the state are having Election Night Parties at their Head Quarters or at one of the local restaurants in the area

If you do not live in an are where there is going to be an election night party consider having one for your family & friends to watch the results come in together

#MalloysMess Ruining Summer Fun

Does your family like to camp in CT state parks?

Well thanks to the democrats your family will not be able to camp in some of the parks after the July 4th holiday weekend because the democrats do not value your family & choose instead to give raises to UCONN’s already highly paid administrators & to their favorite corporate buddies

Do you like to go to the summer concerts & farmers market & wander through the Old State House?  Well again #MalloysMess means that you can’t enjoy like you have in years past, but maybe on a limited schedule if businesses & private people step up!

The Old State House will be Closed to  the Public starting June 29th according to this news report http://fox61.com/2016/06/24/old-state-house-to-close-to-the-public-june-29-due-to-budget-cuts/

We’re still waiting word official about the farmers market & the summer concert series

is from the article but it is not looking good for the other usual offerings. There is the possibility that the cuts might even affect the WinterFest was mentioned on one of the news channels. There is time enough for that to find additional sources for funding. I hope that people remember all of this mess by November when they go to vote.

RiverFest was cancelled & originally the Movies in the Park were cancelled but some local businesses stepped up & were able to save that family fun nights. Shout Out to Jamie of Bears BBQ who is one of the local businesses that saved Movie Nights in the Park!

The West Indian Independence Celebration will be able to have it’s 54 Annivesary celebration in Bushnell Park but it is pared back due to the budget cuts. So there will only be a parade of bands & dance troupes but none of the usual Big Floats in it’s condensed route around the park rather than down it’s normal parade route.

June 7th Windsor town budget Vote

Windsor Property Owners Get Out & VOTE on the Property Taxes June 7th

In Windsor, the method we use to determine our town budget is an open process. Every citizen who is registered to vote – property owners and those who rent – is welcome to participate in determining the town budget.

This is where your involvement is really important because your vote really does count. What you think makes a difference, right here in your home town.

Please take the time to vote on your town’s budget.

A YES Vote Increases the amount of your property (home, car & business) taxes

A No Vote tells the Council & School Board members to reduce their budgets to reduce or keep the same tax amount that we had after last years tax increases

TAX on back of bent over manwant vs need man balancing

The following Community Budget Forums were sponsored by Windsor CT Votes and the Windsor League of Women Voters. Town Manager Peter Souza and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Craig Cooke each promoted their reasons for increasing the budget & increasing the property taxes on our homes, cars & businesses at those meetings; some of which were video taped.

Those meetings which were taped are available to watch online or order the dvd via Win-TV

Winter Storm Faith Feb 2015

What a difference a year makes…

Last year in Jan – Feb 2015 we were hit with more snow than we wanted.

Our CT Tradition of naming winter storms had us all the way up to the letter F.

This year so far in 2016 we only have had 1 named winter storm. For the most part not much snow or even traffic problems for CT because #WinterStormAnna came on a weekend. While those who love to ski are complaining about the lack of snow, personally I do not mind because I don’t care for cold weather. I enjoy Spring, Summer & Fall for their colors & warm sunny days.

Outside of CT the nation was using the name that the weather channel had given her & they called Winter Storm Anna the next name on their storm list which was Jonas.

Anna/Jonas put a hurting on the southern states & then just a slap on the rump for CT. Yes after a snow filled winter of 2015 I’m enjoying this year which has been mostly rain.

With all of the extra taxes that Malloy & his henchmen at the capitol who locked the republicans out of the budget room have heaped upon us, saving on heating oil due to the warmer winter this season helps out the home budget.
